How to beautify a draw.io diagram

Clean up dense or uneven draw.io diagrams by importing them into Beauty Diagram, applying the beautify step, and exporting a presentation-ready result.

Follow the workflow, open the example in the editor, then export or save the cleaner result.

Why draw.io output often needs beautifying

Draw.io is fast for sketching structure, but the default render usually ends up cramped, visually noisy, or inconsistent in spacing. Beautification rebuilds the layout while keeping the meaning intact.

  • Uneven spacing between boxes
  • Arrows overlapping or bending awkwardly
  • Typography that does not match the rest of your docs

Import the draw.io file and review

Upload the .drawio or .xml file in the editor. The diagram is converted to Mermaid source, which you can review and edit before beautifying.

Apply the beautify step

The beautify step rebalances spacing, routes edges cleanly, and applies a presentation-grade palette. The result reads like a diagram you would actually paste into a slide deck.

Export SVG or PNG for the final destination

Use SVG when the diagram will be viewed on screen in docs or the browser. Use PNG when the destination is a slide deck, image upload, or a tool that does not accept vector files.

Available on Pro

draw.io import is a Pro feature. Once imported, the Mermaid source stays on your account so you can re-export at any time without re-uploading the original file.
